About the event
Over the past couple of years, stress has become one of the leading causes of depression and anxiety throughout the world. While people have been meditating for thousands of years, mindfulness has grown in popularity due to the success of a variety of secular approaches to stress reduction such as MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy).
Backed by many years of research into its positive effects through its influence on stress pathways in the brain, mindfulness is a practice that can be learned by anyone. Some of the many health benefits include the reduction of stress, anxiety and depression; a decrease of pain in chronic and acute sufferers; and a deeper sense of joy and compassion for self and others.
